To expand access to immunization and strengthen disease prevention, the Government of the State of Mexico, through the State Health Secretariat, launched a 'Sunday Vaccination Campaign' in the municipality of Huixquilucan. This initiative will be held in religious venues and will be implemented in various regions of the state.
These sessions are held every Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with vaccination modules that travel to different points across the state of Mexico, aiming to bring health services to the population in high-traffic community spaces.
Launch in Huixquilucan and state-wide deployment The program was launched in Huixquilucan, where the head of the State Health Secretariat, Macarena Montoya Olvera, led the initial session and called on the population to reinforce preventive measures through vaccination.
This strategy is carried out in fulfillment of Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez's mandate, aimed at ensuring that health services reach the entire state, enabling infants, children, adults, and the elderly to access vaccines in spaces that are part of their daily lives.
Free vaccines available In the modules set up in religious temples, free doses of influenza, tetanus, pneumococcal, COVID-19, and measles-rubella vaccines are administered. Additionally, vaccination schemes for girls and children under five years of age are included, covering rotavirus, hexavalent, and pneumococcal vaccines, in addition to the measles-rubella vaccine, with the aim of completing or reinforcing protection schemes in early childhood.
Community spaces as attention points The use of religious temples as vaccination sites allows for the utilization of high-attendance community spaces, which benefits the strategy's coverage and makes it easier for different age groups to receive their corresponding doses without having to travel to distant health centers.
This mobile approach seeks to reduce access barriers, particularly in communities where health services may be located further away or face high demand.
Recommendations for the population The State Health Secretariat urged citizens to bring their National Health Card to register the vaccination and to stay informed about the temples and municipalities where the sessions will be held.
Updated information on venues and dates can be found on official channels and the Facebook page of the State Health Secretariat, allowing the population to plan their attendance and complete their vaccination schedules.
With this Sunday strategy, the government of the state of Mexico strengthens a community health protection network, integrating religious spaces as allies in health promotion and prevention throughout the state.
